The right bike backpack
The choice of backpack depends on the intended use. Depending on whether you are riding your bike in the city, off-road or on a longer tour, there are different requirements for material, workmanship, design and equipment. Each of our biker backpacks is precisely tailored to its area of application.
Also very important for the right decision is the heart of the backpack: the carrying system.
Areas of use of bicycle backpacks
Asphalt, gravel road or single trail - where do you prefer to ride?
The different types of
differ in many respects. Before buying, you should therefore think about what you want to use the backpack for. If you are on single trails, you will need reinforced protection. For longer tours you need enough storage space and for endurance rides it should be the lighter version. According to the requirements, the model designs differ. Each backpack is designed for a specific application, all features and functions are geared to it. Of course, you can always use the backpack for other activities. However, it offers optimal functionality in its specific area of application.

Women's backpacks
Women - hardly surprisingly - have a different physique than men and therefore different demands on the construction of a backpack.
The women's backpacks in our range are designed specifically for the female anatomy and the needs of most women.

Shoulder straps
On average, women have a significantly narrower back and shoulder area than men. So that the shoulder straps do not chafe under the armpits or press in the chest area, our women's backpacks have S-shaped shoulder straps. Due to this special shape, the backpack sits stably in the shoulder area and cannot slip. In addition, the height of the chest strap, which is fixed to the shoulder strap, can be adjusted to ensure the greatest possible comfort.

Back length
On average, women are about 10 cm shorter than men, the back is shorter and the shoulders are usually narrower. VAUDE women's backpacks have a shorter back length and are overall smaller and narrower cut than the comparison models for men. Thus, an optimal fit is guaranteed.

Hip belt
The female pelvis is wider and flatter than that of men. The hip belts of our women's backpacks are therefore specially shaped and slightly wider to allow optimal wearing comfort.
The difference between volume and weight in bicycle backpacks
The number of liters is not the same as the possible load, i.e. with a 25-liter backpack can not be carried 25 kilos. Rather, the number of liters indicates the volume and thus tells how big the backpack is. It should be noted that these are maximum dimensions and a backpack is not a cuboid body, i.e. on the basis of the specified dimensions, the volume can therefore not be determined. How many kilos can be carried comfortably with a backpack depends primarily on the carrying system and the cut.

How to determine the volume of backpacks
The volume of a backpack is determined according to certain criteria, the so-called ASTM standard F2153-01. This standard specifies that all compartments of the backpack are filled with small plastic spheres. The total amount of beads is then emptied into a container, on which the volume is read by means of a scale. This standard is used by all reputable backpack manufacturers.
