Why is it worth having my VAUDE product repaired?

The VAUDE repair service contributes to a sustainable lifestyle. VAUDE is strongly committed to the circular economy and resource conservation, with the aim of keeping high-quality products in use for as long as possible.

Repairs
•    extend the life of a product
•    reduce waste
•    save CO₂ and resources
•    promote conscious consumption

How long does a repair take?

Repairs are carried out within 7–10 business days. Including shipping and return shipping, you can expect a total duration of 2–3 weeks.

Why do items need to be washed or cleaned before repair?

Repairs can only be carried out professionally, safely, and reliably if the item sent in is clean and hygienic.

There are several important reasons for this:

•    Cleaning is necessary to ensure the health and safety of employees.

•    Only on a cleaned item can employees reliably assess where exactly the damage is located, how big the defect actually is, which repair method is appropriate, or whether there is material fatigue or hidden damage.

•    Clean products protect the machines, tools, and materials used by the repair service.

Which VAUDE products can be repaired?

The VAUDE repair service supports a wide range of products, including:
•    Outdoor and bike clothing
•    Backpacks, shoulder bags
•    Tents and accessories
•    Sleeping bags

What common repairs does VAUDE perform?

The VAUDE repair service handles, among other things:
•    Replacement of zippers
•    Repair of tears and holes in textiles
•    Replacement of buckles, clips, straps, and carrying systems
•    Repair of tents, poles, and accessories
•    Sealing/patching minor damage

Can items from other brands also be sent in for repair?

Yes, our repair service also handles products from other brands; however, in this case, you will be charged for the repair. You can obtain a cost estimate via the portal.

What types of damage cannot be repaired?

In the case of functional jackets, the waterproofing cannot be restored if there is extensive delamination, complete detachment of the membrane, or crumbling, porous areas.
Tent fabric that is severely damaged by UV rays/brittle (fragile, prone to tearing, extensively discolored) cannot be permanently repaired.
Severely damaged or sticky PU coatings on backpacks and bags are usually due to material fatigue and unfortunately cannot be repaired.

Can I have my VAUDE product repaired even if it is no longer covered by warranty or guarantee?

Yes. Repairs are possible regardless of warranty or guarantee and are a central part of VAUDE's sustainability strategy.

Are repairs also possible for older models?

If compatible replacement parts are available: yes. Even items that are no longer in the range can often be repaired, depending on the condition of the material and the availability of components.

Can I have a VAUDE product altered or shortened?

•    Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer alterations.
•    We do not carry out width or complete size alterations, as this is comparable to the effort involved in manufacturing.
•    Custom/special designs are not possible.
•    We do not carry maternity inserts or jacket extensions in our range.

Does VAUDE offer replacement parts for DIY repairs?

Yes! VAUDE provides numerous replacement parts, e.g.:
