Finest merino wool provides cyclists with excellent functional properties that are all natural. It has a temperature regulating effect on the body, which means it keeps you warm when it’s cold outside – and cools you down when it’s hot. This is possible because the single fibres of wool are hollow, and trapped air inside serves to insulate and retain body heat. The new VAUDE jerseys, pants and jackets put this thermal function to work for best comfort in colder seasons. Wool products provide particularly pleasant warmth and continue to insulate even when wet. A further advantage: wool is odour-inhibiting and naturally anti-bacterial, which means these garments need to be washed less, with a simple airing out often enough to freshen them up. In the new collection, VAUDE only uses wool from animal welfare friendly sources and adheres to strict environmental standards in wool processing. In addition, VAUDE has a clear commitment to only using wool from mulesing-free production.
Larrau Softshell Jacket: Take on wind and inhospitable weather in wool
The Larrau Softshell Jacket was specifically designed with all-year cyclists in mind. Built with a solid portion of merino wool on the inside, it naturally warms and insulates, creating an excellent temperature regulating layer between the outer shell and your body. On the outside, a lightweight softshell face with a 100% windproof membrane blocks out wind and cold temps. Here VAUDE uses EcoFinish, an environmentally friendly water-repellent finish that does not require environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFC). Two higher placed chest pockets feature zips and extra ventilation options. In a generously sized back pocket, valuables and other accessories can be stored for quick access. The jacket has, as is usual for cycling tops, a slightly longer cut in the back. Thanks to subtle color choices, the jacket can be worn in style and grace both on and off the saddle.
The in-house VAUDE Green Shape Label stands for environmentally friendly products – made from sustainable materials, whereby all primary materials are certified in accordance with the bluesign system®, in addition to using resource-conserving manufacturing under fair production conditions.
Resca and Matera Jerseys: Wonderful woolly performance
VAUDE also offers two luxioursly warm woolen jerseys as first layers that can be worn as a warm base layer in colder seasons; the Women’s Resca Wool and the Men’s Matera Wool. Tailored with athletic elegance and precision, these jerseys provide outstanding functional properties due to a material mix of finest merino wool with high-quality polyester fiber. On the inside of the jersey, VAUDE fuses the prime wearing comfort and warming properties of high wool content with fast drying synthetic fiber. This fiber offers best breathability that quickly and effectively wicks excess water vapour outwards, so that that the jersey can dry quickly. A long zip offers additional ventilation on all-out tours. A beautiful landscape print with a lake or mountain view underscores the outdoor, sporting experience even in colder seasons – after all, cycling is increasingly becoming an all-season sport. Further features are three back pockets and a small reflective strap that can be used to attach a safety light for enhanced visibility in low light conditions.
Advanced Wool Pants
In the winter cycling trousers, Advanced Wool Pants, VAUDE also fuses the unique functional properties of natural and synthetic fibers, depending on the body zone, for best cycling comfort and performance. The bike pants, which are optionally available with or without an integrated chamois, are ergonomically designed and built to protect the lower torso and seat from icy winds and hyperthermia with 100% windproof material. At the front and sides of the legs, a mix of 67% finest merino wool with stretch partitions and performance synthetic fiber provides natural warmth combined with a great fit and best breathability. High stretch material at the back supports breathability and full freedom of movement when hitting the pedals. The soft chamois is certified in accordance with the Öko-Tex® 100 standard and therefore extremely skin-friendly. In the upper material and foams, VAUDE partially uses recycled coffee grounds, which are processed into oil by the patented S-Café® technology, which is then used to make new yarns and foams.
