With the completely redesigned collection, VAUDE is covering a wide spectrum for active people – whether for trekking, walking, the urban jungle or waterproof cycling shoes for men and women. The newly developed V-Flow Index helps with choosing the perfect shoe model for each type of activity.
A 100% recycled Sympatex membrane is used for many of our models. This eco-friendly alternative membrane is PTFE-free and PFC-free; it consists of a completely safe copolymer made of polyester and polyether which is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified and bluesign® approved. VAUDE has used Sympatex laminates combined with 100% recycled linings for the entire collection. And for the first time, this shoe collection features a fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment that has been specially developed by Sympatex in cooperation with the partner Rudolf.
In its selection of other sustainable materials, VAUDE continues to rely on certified TerraCare® leather from Germany, a wide variety of recycling issues and, for the first time, is using a bio-based TPU material for the toe cap and heel counter, which replaces conventional TPU and contributes to reducing dependency on oil. The results are functional down to the last detail and, from an overall perspective – remarkably green: over 60% of the new shoe collection now meets VAUDE’s strict Green Shape criteria.
“With the SS18 Collection, we have taken a big step toward becoming the most sustainable provider of functional outdoor and bike shoes.” (Oliver Korden, Head of Shoes)
V-Flow Index - A guide for finding your optimum shoe
In its Summer 2018 Shoe Program, VAUDE has also created a new system for finding the right shoes based on your primary activity. The V-Flow Index classifies shoes based on the rigidity of the sole construction: for Alpine use, as a multifunctional shoe for outdoor activities or for urban adventures.
VAUDE’s new, environmentally friendly shoes for men and women will be available in stores starting Spring 2018.
