H-Chamber Construction – baffles keep the down in place

All VAUDE down sleeping bags have a baffle construction inside for the fill. The chambers divide the inside of your sleeping bag to keep the down in place. We use a slanted H-chamber construction that effectively prevents cold spots and provides an optimal warmth-to-weight ratio. Down combines a low weight with outstanding thermal properties.

90/10 down fill guarantees optimal insulation  properties at a minimal weight. We use a white goose down with 850 cu.in fill power in our Serniga sleeping bags; in the Ice Peak series models we use white duck down with 650 cu.in. fill power, measured using the DIN EN 12130 norm. Mummy – a design with high thermal efficiency
Mummy – a design with high thermal efficiency

Tapered mummy bags are the most popular shape for sleeping bags. And that’s for a good reason. The form-fitting design narrows towards your feet, meaning that less air needs to be heated in your VAUDE sleeping bag, which is very heat-efficient. Less fabric also saves resources making your VAUDE sleeping bag lighter and more compressible. The hood shape and thermal collar (not included in all models) prevent cold air from penetrating – mummy sleeping bags are the perfect companion in cold and challenging weather.

• optimal thermal efficiency due to a form fitting shape
• lightweight and very compressible
• perfect for challenging tours in any weather

Down
Down

VAUDE only uses the highest quality down fill. The down used in our sleeping bags is European down originating from Poland. The ratio of down to feathers is the percentual amount of each used to create the necessary loft for effective thermal insulation. The quality of down is expressed in the fill power in cubic inches per ounce (cu.in.), measured in accordance with the European DIN EN 12130 norm. The higher the fill power, the better the down will insulate.VAUDE makes a clear commitment: down is only harvested from slaughtered birds, which have not been plucked live or bred for the supposed culinary speciality, foie gras. All VAUDE down suppliers confirm their adherence to these conditions.
