What should I pack for an adventure bike trip?

Are you planning a bike trip but don't know exactly what to take with you? Whether you're planning a multi-day tour to the Adriatic or a multi-month expedition to the Himalayas, this packing list will give you an overview of what you can leave at home and what you should definitely pack.
Disclaimer: This packing list is based on our own current bikepacking trip from Bavaria to India. It is intended to provide you with inspiration and orientation. Since people and adventure bike trips are ultimately unique, your preparations should be individually adapted if necessary. Have fun!


Preparation: Climatic conditions and luggage volume
As soon as you have decided on your destination, you should think about the climatic conditions. Find out about the temperature extremes you can expect on your trip and pack accordingly. This packing list is designed for temperatures from -2 to 35 degrees Celsius, which is roughly equivalent to a trip from Europe to the foothills of the Himalayas in summer.
Cycling clothing: Comfort and versatility
The right Cycling clothing for long days in the saddle is crucial. Choose clothing that you have already tested to avoid unpleasant surprises such as sore spots. In summer, you can leave warm clothing such as an insulating jacket and gloves at home. Also think about the possible combinations of your equipment to save weight and remain flexible.

Technology: Power supply and navigation
In addition to your cell phone or navigation devices, you should also make sure you have a sufficient power supply. A power bank in combination with a solar panel is ideal for long tours.

Health and first aid and first aid: safe on the road
A well-equipped first aid kit is essential. Find out about necessary medication and vaccinations before your trip.
