Which VAUDE bike pants pad is best for me?
We want our products to help cyclists enjoy their individual cycling activities as much as possible. With this in mind, we have developed three new chamois pads for our cycling shorts.
They are comfortable to sit on and optimally distribute and cushion pressure. As befits VAUDE, the pads are made from bio-based and recycled materials.
Which seat pads does VAUDE have?
The seat pads are adapted to different areas of use. In order to offer the best comfort in each case, VAUDE has conducted many different studies together with universities. The result:
- X-Pad (green): Seat pad for sporty CROSS rides such as MTB, gravel and cross country.
- R-Pad (red): Seat pad for sporty ROAD rides such as road cycling.
- T-Pad (blue): Seat pad for all terrain TRAIL & TRAVEL tours such as bike touring.
The VAUDE bike seat pads in detail

For mountain biking and gravel: the X-Pad
The X-Pad is particularly suitable for a sporty riding position, such as mountain biking or gravel riding. In addition, the 4-layer construction with 3D grid structure absorbs shocks when riding off-road. For even more comfort, the X-Pad is finely perforated, making it highly breathable.
- shock-absorbing 4-layer construction, 15 mm thick
- Foam with elastic 3D grid structure that absorbs shocks when riding off-road
- perforated surface dries better and reduces friction

For road cycling: the R-Pad
If you're taking your bike out on the road, we recommend the R-Pad. Thanks to its high-density 3-layer construction, it absorbs pressure in sporty riding positions for a stable riding experience on long rides or journeys. For even more comfort, the R-Pad is finely perforated, making it highly breathable.
- high-density 3-layer construction, 12 mm thin
- firmer foam for maximum stability in a sporty riding position
- perforated surface dries better and reduces friction

For trail, day and multi-day tours: the T-Pad
The T-Pad has everything you need for trail and travel - on any terrain. It doesn't matter whether it's a trail tour, a leisurely day tour or a longer multi-day tour. The strength of the T-Pad and its 2-layer construction lies above all in the freedom of movement with a more upright sitting position.
- ergonomic 2-layer construction, 15 mm thick
- softer foam fits snugly and offers full freedom of movement with optimum cushioning
- is ideal for a more upright riding position

For children: the T-Pad Youth
Our seat pad for children: the T-Pad Youth. For young cyclists, we have anatomically adapted the 2-layer construction for adults to suit the next generation. Like its big brother, it offers ideal freedom of movement with a more upright riding position.
- ergonomic 2-layer construction
- softer foam offers adaptive flexibility with optimum cushioning
- specially adapted for children
Different anatomies mean different VAUDE bike seat pads
The three seat pad versions are each adapted to the anatomies of men and women. This ensures great comfort even on long bike rides.
Women's anatomy is taken into account in the seat pads:
- Inserts in the pubic area absorb the pressure, distribute it and thus protect the sensitive front area of the woman
- wider padding in the buttocks area

The male anatomy is taken into account in the seat padding:
- Inserts up to the perineal area absorb and distribute the pressure
- in the front area, softer foams protect the sensitive nerve tracts of the man and fit comfortably all around through a foam gap

What should I wear under my cycling shorts?
You shouldn't wear anything under your cycling shorts. The seat padding in your VAUDE cycling shorts is designed for direct skin contact and prevents chafing. The material also wicks away moisture and dries quickly.
Underwear, on the other hand, usually retains moisture and has seams that are likely to chafe - not a good combination.
