Green Shape® strengthens credible environmental labelling for textiles: VAUDE becomes first brand to achieve certification
Tettnang, 13 October 2026 – Green Shape® sets particularly ambitious and comprehensive environmental criteria for textile production, taking the entire product life cycle into account. As the new EU rules against greenwashing, applicable since 27 September 2026, come into effect, the environmental standard reaches another milestone: VAUDE has become the first brand to successfully complete the independent third-party environmental certification process. A large proportion of the products in the Autumn/Winter 2026 collection will carry the new Green Shape® label when they go on sale.

Helsinki/Tettnang, July 10, 2026 – UPM Next Generation Renewables and the sustainable outdoor brand VAUDE have been awarded the 2026 Ernst Pelz Award for their joint development of the world's first fleece jacket made from wood-based polyester. The award was presented by Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger on July 6 during the C.A.R.M.E.N. Symposium in Straubing, Germany.

Reliable weather protection without risk to people and nature
Tettnang, 20 January 2026 – PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are now detectable worldwide – in drinking water, soil and the human body. These so-called “forever chemicals” are considered hazardous to health and potentially carcinogenic, as they do not break down and remain in the environment permanently. Despite these risks, PFAS are still used in a wide range of products. More than 15 years ago, VAUDE made a strategic decision to gradually eliminate PFAS from all product categories. With the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, this transformation is complete: VAUDE now fully avoids PFAS – from weather protection apparel to backpacks, sleeping bags, footwear and waterproof tents.
