How do I sew the hem of a functional jacket back on?
From time to time it can happen that the hem of your functional jacket comes off, e.g. due to incorrect care or external influences. We show you here in a few steps how you can fix the hem again.
Required tools:
Cloth, iron, sewing machine, sewing thread
Difficulty: Medium
Duration: 10 minutes
You will need scissors, yarn in the appropriate color and a thin needle.
Iron setting: 1 point. Put the cloth on the jacket.
Iron evenly. It is important not to iron too long, so that the fabric does not get too hot. It is better to check once more under the cloth to see if the ironing was sufficient and to press it additionally. Ironing serves for better fixing before sewing.
Thread the sewing machine with matching color thread and carefully sew the hem parallel to the zipper.
At the beginning and end of the seam, bar-tack the seam by stitching briefly back and forth.
Tip: Sew the entire hem again from bottom to top, not just the broken piece, so that it looks better.
