Colleagues Bags Series: retro-style for urban trendsetters
Retro is absolutely in. For the past few years, old-school style bags have been gracing modern cityscapes. The German family-run company VAUDE is also revisiting its roots and has revamped a few style icons from its over 40-year history as a mountain sports outfitter. The new Colleagues bag collection fuses timeless design with urban elegance and a modern slant for the needs of today. The new Colleagues have a sense of organization and are intrinsically dedicated to environmental conservation. After all, they consist largely of recycled material and bear the prestigious VAUDE Green Shape label. These Colleagues are your ticket for a journey that’s "Back to the Future".
New Generation of Recycled Bags Series: sporty, casual, eco-friendly
Since 2009, the Recycled bags and backpacks have been some of VAUDE’s absolute best-sellers. This is no wonder, after all these eco-trendsetters made from recycled PET bottles are not only stylish but also highly practical, and indispensable companions for modern everyday life. Now, VAUDE has reworked the series with some minor design updates and added two new models.
VAUDE focuses on "Made in Germany"
VAUDE’s new specialized production facility at its company headquarters in southern Germany, VAUDE Manufaktur, doesn’t look like a typical industrial building with its warm-toned, blond wood façade. The new 2-million euro production plant built by the outdoor outfitter began operation at the beginning of the year. The role that sustainability plays in the facility – as in the surrounding buildings – is unmistakable. Plenty of natural wood and energy-efficient strategies ensure a comfortable, healthy working space. 42 employees have finally returned to the VAUDE Manufaktur at the company headquarters and are thrilled with the space. Due to a major fire in 2015, production had been temporarily moved to a rented production plant. Approximately 100,000 bike bags and backpacks are made in the 1,800 m2 factory – utilizing craftsmanship that meets highly technological standards. VAUDE will continue to expand its “Made in Germany” production, which is growing by about 20 percent annually.

VAUDE and Kindernothilfe (a German aid organization for children) received the best scores from their employees and thus the A.T. Kearney Family Award.
VAUDE ranks twice among the best five companies
The outdoor manufacturer VAUDE from Tettnang in Southern Germany was nominated by a jury of experts in two categories for the German Federal Government’s CSR Award (CSR = Corporate Social Responsibility). "We are pleased that we were listed twice among the five best companies in Germany. Even though we didn’t achieve first place, it is a great endorsement of our level of commitment. We would like to congratulate the winners, Rapunzel and Weleda, which have been consistently dedicated to sustainability for decades, inspiring others," said VAUDE CEO Antje von Dewitz on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the Awards Ceremony in Berlin where she participated in a panel discussion. The nomination alone serves as both an incentive and an obligation, and demonstrates that VAUDE is distinguished by exemplary and responsible corporate governance. A total of 25 companies were nominated in five categories for the CSR Awards.
