Which VAUDE backpack fits my back length?

Which VAUDE backpack fits best can be easily determined using the table based on back length. Anyone can measure this themselves. All you need is a measuring tape.

How do I measure my back length?

The back length is the distance between the seventh vertebra (counted from the top) and the iliac crest.

To find the upper measuring point, let your head hang forward. This causes the seventh vertebra to arch outwards on its own.

The lower measuring point is located at the upper edge of the hip bone: if you put your hands on your hips, you can already feel the upper edges on the sides - the second measuring point is at this height.

Optionally, you can also put on a belt with the upper edge on the upper edge of the hip bones so that it is easier to find the lower measuring point later.

Hold the measuring tape to the C7 vertebraHold the measuring tape to the C7 vertebra

Now straighten your head again and place one end of the measuring tape on the seventh vertebra and hold it there. Simply let go of the other end.

Did you have a belt to hand? Then put your hands on your hips and hold the tape measure as horizontally as possible. If you have a belt, you can slide your hand along it until you reach the measuring tape and hold it at the intersection with the belt.

Release the measuring tape at the top and read off the back lengthRelease the measuring tape at the top and read off the back length

Now drop the tape measure at the top, read off the value and find your ideal backpack!

How do I adjust the straps on the backpack correctly?

The distances between the shoulder straps and the hip strapsThe distances between the shoulder straps and the hip straps

when you put on the backpack, make sure that the upper edge of the hip belt is about two centimetres above the iliac crest. In addition, the connection point between the shoulder straps and the backpack should start about eight centimetres below the highest point of the shoulders.

Finally, make sure that the closed chest strap runs directly and straight across the chest, i.e. approximately at heart level.

You can use the load control straps to shift the weight between your hips and shoulders. If you want to place it on your hips, loosen the shoulder straps and tighten the load control straps. To "shoulder" the load, simply do it the other way around.
