Outdoor vests as a second or top layer
Vests are ideal for all sports activities in conditions where the weather might suddenly turn colder. Much more compact and lighter than an outdoor jacket, a vest fits into any size luggage and can be extremely useful if needed. Our PrimaLoft® filled body warmers not only take up very little space but also keep your back and torso warm and dry in changeable weather. Vests are sleeveless vests that keep a particularly sensitive area of the body from getting dangerously cold. Such a vest offers excellent protection and has many functional properties. An outdoor gilet can either be worn as a thermal layer or on top. Particularly suitable for wearing on top are vests made from wind resistant or water repellent fabrics such as softshell.

The choice is yours – a down or a Primaloft filled gilet?
The fact that almost all of these feature a water repellent coating to protect you against sudden light rain- or snowfall applies to both.Down has outstanding thermal properties but is also heavier than synthetic fibres. Also, as soon as down gets wet, it has considerably less of a thermal effect; in fact, down absorbs moisture quicker and dries slower than synthetic fibre.PrimaLoft® is an excellent alternative to a classic down filled gilet. An extremely long-lived material, it is water repellent and quick drying, and also has outstanding thermal properties. VAUDE synthetic fibre gilets are made from recycled polyester and will keep you warm even after they have been exposed to moisture. A PrimaLoft® vest or gilet takes up very little space and is made from a material with outstanding breathability, making it perfect for many sports.
