Overall good tent but some disappointing features
Andy Walch 18 Jul 2018 I bought a ‚Mark, tent 20 years ago and was always very happy with it. The tent still works but for a big motorbike trip I thought I buy a new one; the much lower weight and packed dimensions were the main reasons to buy the Mark L 3P. While the quick and easy set up is still one of the great features and the materials are much lighter and thinner, the ventilation was pretty poor for warm countries as the mosquito net only covers a third of the entranceand consequently hinders adequate air flow. Might be ok in cold areas but definitely not enough in warmer climates. Here VauDe has saved on the wrong end as it was too warm inside, even during the night with cooler temperatures. Also, I have some doubt that the thin and plastic used will last as long. Finally, to have the entrance from the front and not from the side anymore is not necessarily an advantage. While your head is not touching the inner tent anymore when laying down, it is much tighter to get in the tent and getting in or out is not as easy. Probably personal taste. Good points are the low weight and dimensions, easy and quick set up (also when travelling alone) and the concept of the Mark series to have the inner tent linked to the outer fly.
