Product Description

Alpstein 450 - Down sleeping bag
Very lightweight down sleeping bag
  • 3-season (for spring to autumn) quilt concept, warm
  • very comfortable, can be attached to a mat
  • eco-friendly and fair manufacturing
Our 3-seasons quilt concept - liberating simplicity, liberating comfort. The ultra-lightweight down sleeping bag with an H-chamber construction is filled with 450 grams of high-quality 850-fill power goose down obtained in accordance with the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). Extremely lightweight, comfortable sleeping systems are possible with this quilt concept. In conjunction with your obligatory sleeping pad or air mattress, insulation at the back of the sleeping bag is superfluous - thermal insulation is provided by the sleeping pad. This not only saves weight and distributes the down fill more efficiently; it also creates more freedom of movement and comfort. Minimalists and those used to rectangular sleeping bags might forgo a hood due to weight or comfort reasons. To avoid slipping off the pad - and for more effective heat retention - the quilt can be attached to all standard pads with hi-frequency welded edges with all-purpose clips. The textile materials are certified according to the bluesign® standard. The VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials.

95/5 Down
95/5 Down

95/5 down fillings guarantee the best-possible insulation properties at minimum weight. For our Alpstein sleeping bags, we use white goose down with 850 cu.in fill power, measured in accordance with the IDFB steam method.

Mummy cut
Mummy cut

The classic sleeping bag shape. The mummy cut is recognized by its conical shape: the sleeping bag narrows toward the feet. Its body hugging shape minimizes the amount of air that needs to be warmed up for better thermal efficiency. The cut also means that less material is used than in other shapes. This makes the sleeping bag lighter at a comparable thermal performance and it can be packed down smaller.

Thermal collar
Thermal collar

The thermal collar minimizes the escape of heat from the inside of the sleeping bag. Depending on the area of use of the sleeping bag, the collar is of different thickness. We use snap fasteners to prevent claustrophobia and to allow a quick exit.

Down
Down

VAUDE only uses the highest quality down fill. The down used in our sleeping bags is European down originating from Poland. The ratio of down to feathers is the percentual amount of each used to create the necessary loft for effective thermal insulation. The quality of down is expressed in the fill power in cubic inches per ounce (cu.in.), measured in accordance with the European DIN EN 12130 norm. The higher the fill power, the better the down will insulate.VAUDE makes a clear commitment: down is only harvested from slaughtered birds, which have not been plucked live or bred for the supposed culinary speciality, foie gras. All VAUDE down suppliers confirm their adherence to these conditions.
