Material

Natural hemp fibers
Natural hemp fibers

This product includes natural hemp fibers. Hemp is a hardy, robust plant that is naturally resilient and fast-growing. It requires little water for cultivation, no fertilizers and no pesticides. This makes it an eco-friendly, renewable resource. Fibers obtained from the stalks are spun to make hard-wearing fabrics. These fabrics are then used to create high-quality, durable products that highlight VAUDE’s commitment to sustainability. Find out more about hemp.

Biobased plastic
Biobased plastic

This product includes a biobased plastic containing castor oil. Normally, plastics are made from petroleum. In order to conserve this fossil resource, we went out in search of renewable alternatives. Castor oil grows without supplemental irrigation on poor soil and does not compete with the food chain. From the oil of the castor beans we produce fibers for clothing and plastic components such as zippers, buckles and hooks. They have the same properties of conventional materials — only "greener". Find out more about biobased plastic.

Organic Cotton
Organic Cotton

This product includes certified organic cotton that is produced in accordance with stringent environmental standards – with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, and lower water consumption than conventional growing methods. After all, we want you to feel good with our product. Find out more about Organic Cotton.

Recycled materials
Recycled materials

VAUDE uses recycled materials (e.g. from PET-bottles) in the manufacture of this product. This saves up to 50% in energy and CO2 emissions as well as fossil raw materials. Find out more about recycled materials.

Eco Finish – environmentally friendly water and stain resistant finish
Eco Finish – environmentally friendly water and stain resistant finish

This water and stain resistant finish is applied to the outer fabric of your product so that water pearls up and runs right off – without the use of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFCs). This protects you from the rain and keeps the planet clean. Regular reapplication is necessary for permanent waterproofing and stain resistance.

• environmentally friendly water repellency and stain resistance
• optimal protection from rain and moisture
• no use of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFC)
