A large trekking rucksack or a lightweight city daypack?

If you are considering which rucksack you should buy, you should think about how you want to use it. Is the backpack intended more for sporty hiking, mountaineering or via ferrata? Or are you planning a big trekking tour with a tent, a sleeping bag and food for a fortnight in the Scottish Highlands? The requirements for a suitable backpack vary depending on how much gear you want to carry. You need a lot of storage space and volume for trekking, backpacking and travelling. Well-padded belts and straps are also important, as well as optimal load distribution, so that you feel comfortable even on longer tours. Hiking rucksacks and ultra-light rucksacks, on the other hand, are usually not quite as big but their light weight is impressive.

Daypacks and city backpacks: designed with everyday wear in mind

Backpacks are not only perfect for the outdoors, but also for everyday use. For the way to work, university or school, they offer space for a laptop, documents, writing materials as well as a lunch box and a water bottle. Much like outdoor rucksacks, it's all about the well-thought-out layout of the compartments: removable organisers, padded notebook compartments and smaller compartments for valuables to keep everything in one place.

City backpacks are also attractive because of their stylish design: whether you’re commuting to work or strolling around town, a backpack with an urban style can totally round off your outfit. Women may prefer an elegant women's city backpack in light colours, while men tend to opt for a dark-coloured backpack with an urban look.

Speaking of looks: kids’ backpacks in bright colours with jolly animal faces not only delight our little ones on their way to the nursery, but also fit perfectly to the child’s back.
