Sugar cane, corn starch, cooking oil and castor oil – the ingredient list for the new VAUDE Lavik Eco STX shoes reads like a recipe from your favorite cookbook. In fact, the outdoor and sustainability pioneer has adopted cutting edge solutions. In addition to using recycled materials in production, they also rely on bio-based raw materials. Greener is possible – at VAUDE anyway – taking a big step toward greater environmental protection!
If you want to truly advance innovation and environmental protection, you've got to be willing to veer off the beaten track and break new ground. The outdoor manufacturer VAUDE succeeds admirably with its new hiking shoes.
The TRK Lavik Eco STX are versatile multifunctional shoes for fast-paced mountain activities. They're primarily made from bio-based and recycled materials – and are reliably waterproof and breathable thanks to a Sympatex membrane featuring eco-friendly manufacturing.
You can't get any greener than this (at the moment)
Lightweight, waterproof stability – with sustainable production: VAUDE has put all its expertise in making comfortable, eco-friendly outdoor shoes into the TRK Lavik Eco STX. A large percentage of the components – such as mesh materials in the upper, inner lining and the laces – are made either primarily or entirely from recycled raw materials. The heart of this eco-footwear is the shock-absorbing midsole made of bio-based EVA and TPU. It's made from sugar, corn starch and residual cooking oil – a world first that VAUDE is using for the first time with its development partner Covestro. This midsole, a thermoplastic elastomer with 53% bio-based content, brings comfortable shock-absorption, control and stability to outdoor terrain. The grippy outsole is made primarily from natural rubber and comes from the Italian sole specialist Vibram. Even on challenging trails, these soles offer superior traction and performance. According to the manufacturer, the Vibram N-Oil compound includes more than 90% natural materials with no chemicals or solvents.
Environmentally friendly components down to the last detail
With the TRK Lavic Eco STX, you'll be one step ahead – and can rightly count yourself among the world's sustainability pioneers! One of the most important factors for sustainability is, of course, a long product life. VAUDE has therefore outfitted the shoes with a robust, hard-wearing toe and heel cap made from 64% castor oil which makes them more durable when hiking on rocky surfaces – perfect for demanding routes on or off trail.
The waterproof Sympatex membrane is 100% recycled and PTFE-free as well as PFC-free. Likewise, the EcoFinish DWR treatment used by VAUDE is free of fluorocarbon compounds.
Dynamic, robust & waterproof
The TRK Lavik Eco STX is an excellent (and even more important, green) choice for dynamic mountain activities with an athletic bent. With these shoes, mountain sports fans can demonstrate their clear commitment to a small footprint when it comes to their gear. And if the forecast calls for rain or you have to cross a stream – no worries. The TRK Lavik Eco STX are outfitted for any weather – and your feet will always stay nice and dry thanks to the Sympatex membrane. You can hardly enjoy nature in a more planet-friendly way than with the Lavik Eco STX!
