Hemp has been cultivated and used for textiles for thousands of years. However, the textile industry has only recently rediscovered the advantages of this robust plant. Hemp has one of the highest tensile strengths of any plant fiber, is easy to grow, hypoallergenic, naturally cooling and can compete with cotton when it comes to quality.
As Europe's sustainable outdoor outfitter, VAUDE has also added this renewable raw material to its repertoire. In 2018 it made its debut in the Lignum bag series – backpacks and bags that perfectly complement a modern lifestyle with practical details and well-organized compartments. Distinctive designs with sophisticated cuts, a soft hand and a natural look makes these new Packs 'n Bags the up and coming stars of the spring season. The attention to detail becomes apparent with daily use. The models are extremely versatile, they score with VAUDE’s renowned functionality and most of them can be carried in a variety of ways.
Individual & ecological
The organic cotton/recycled hemp material blend feels like a textile and features excellent resiliency. It is made from textile production remnants that are collected and processed, so the material’s structure can vary with small bits of color and nodules that give each product a special, unique touch. The buckles and zips of the new Lignum bag series are another exclusive feature - they are made of 62 % natural castor oil. This biobased plastic is another innovative development that VAUDE has been able to utilize as a new, sustainable material.
In all bags of the Lignum Series, the VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials. The bags will be available from selected retailers in March 2020.
