Unpredictable weather, wind and downpours on the horizon. What do you need? Wool, exactly! For thousands of years, this natural material has been a source of warmth for people who venture into the high mountains in winter. In modern times, this is where "homo alpinus" likes to ski. On alpine ski tours, you want a warm jacket that's prepared for all eventualities – like the Larice Halfzip Jacket by VAUDE. With lavalan® insulation made of natural sheep's wool, it's the perfect winter coat for ski touring.
Natural warmth for outdoor adventures
Designed as an anorak, the Larice Halfzip offers an ideal combination of insulation and wind protection for strenuous ski and mountain tours! Ambitious ski tourers will find reliable protection from the cold on sweaty ascents with the lightweight lavalan® wool insulation (made using wool from certified organic animal husbandry) at the front. Windproof yet highly breathable Storm Fleece at the sleeves and on the back ensures an excellent microclimate and outstanding comfort. You can stow your hat or gloves in the quick-access outer mesh pocket in the men's version; the women's version has side zip pockets. Super practical for anyone who wears a watch or GPS device – a special window is integrated into the sleeve so that you can always keep an eye on all the data on your wrist.
A fortress of protection from cold temperatures
With natural wool insulation, the jacket is the perfect companion for demanding skiing ventures in the mountains – whether on long ski traverses or short, crisp, cold ski tours. The Larice Halfzip Jacket is also ideal for keeping you warm on after-work ski tours. The women's model in particular stands out from the ski touring herd of black softshells with its jazzy color block styling. Time for a change of coat with more regionalism.
Recycled materials and climate neutral production
The lightweight, stretchy anorak is made almost entirely from recycled materials which conserves resources and reduces CO2 emissions. The shiny, wind-resistant outer fabric is a 100% recycled polyamide. Thanks to a PFC-free EcoFinish, snow beads up and rolls off just like water. Recycled materials are also used in the contrasting fabric and lining. The wool insulation is also renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable. The Larice Halfzip Jacket is an eco-friendly ski touring jacket for dynamic mountain sports adventurers who want optimal protection and a clear conscience in the snowy mountains.

lavalan® – the wool insulation
a natural, renewable and sustainable alternative to polyester fill
lavalan® – the wool insulation is a highly functional fill made from 100% natural and renewable raw materials, virgin wool, and corn.
Synthetic materials are often used for insulation of clothing and accessories. Nature already offers us highly functional and complex raw materials.
Wool is a fiber like that which, thanks to its unmatched breathability, provides comfortable warmth and a constant microclimate, individually adapted to the intensity and to the most varied weather conditions. In addition to its thermoregulatory properties, wool is also able to neutralize odors, contributing to longer use without unnecessary washing. All this makes lavalan® the perfect insulation for everyday life, travel, and multi-day mountain adventures.
The wool for lavalan® comes exclusively from European countries and is selected in accordance with the highest quality and animal welfare standards. European wool is mulesing-free. For lavalan®, animal welfare is very important, both during rearing and shearing.
Sheep farmers deliver their freshly shorn wool to collection points, where the fibers are baled according to color and quality. The wool is then cleaned in traditional wool washing facilities in Belgium and the UK. This process washes out plant debris, manure, and lanolin to produce a clean, soft, and consistent lavalan® wool batting. Back at Baur Vliesstoffe in Germany, 60 experienced employees with a knack for wool are responsible for the subsequent lavalan® production.
