Closing the loop. For the first time, a water and windproof polyester membrane made of post-consumer recycled materials, such as used PET bottles, is being applied in VAUDE clothing. The Ceplex Green membrane in the current version of the Miskanti Softshell Jacket has opened up a new chapter in sustainable weather protection.
In its Winter 19/20 collection, VAUDE is presenting two new products made from the world's first fleece fabric with biodegradable fiber on the napped inner surface. With the Miskanti fleece for hikers and the sportier Shuksan fleece, an ecological textile innovation has gone into series production, offering a solution to the problem of microplastics that are shed during the washing process – a good 40 years after the introduction of fleece fabrics in the outdoor market.
In 2019, VAUDE is taking a lifecycle approach to down clothing as well and is opening a new chapter: For the first time GRS-certified recycled down is being used in VAUDE apparel – and this goes for all its down jackets. In the latest version of the VAUDE Kabru Hooded Jacket, the shell is even made of recycled polyamide, making it the first fully recycled down jacket. Heat recovery also works with textiles.
