Hybrid models are already widely used in the outdoor scene – much unlike the automotive sector. In outdoor terms, hybrid means the use of different textile materials, adapted to different body zone requirements.
Material research for off-trail fans
Anyone who dares to adventure outside in freezing temperatures needs sophisticated clothing concepts. The construction of the Primasoft jacket is divided into three different zones: the outer fabric and the inner fabric are identical in each zone. Outside, a softshell material with a water-repellent EcoFinish effectively blocks out moisture; the finely structured inner fleece material ensures luxuriously soft wearing comfort.
At the chest and shoulders, a 100% windproof and waterproof membrane between the outer fabric and inner material protects from overcooling and dampness. In addition, this area is lined with airy, lightweight 40 grams of insulation made from PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco, which keeps the upper body at operating temperatures.
The lower sleeves, sides, as well as the back of the SUW jacket are lined with softshell material. This retains the weather protection function, but leaves out the insulation, since the back is usually covered by a backpack when hiking.
Environmental protection is a prioritized tradition at VAUDE. So the hybrid softshell comes in proven VAUDE Green Shape quality: the primary material features environmentally friendly manufacturing in accordance with the bluesign® system and is outfitted with EcoFinish water-repellency without fluorocarbons (PFC-free). The high-quality PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco is made of 70% recycled fibers.
The full-terrain Primasoft models from VAUDE will be available at sportswear retailers starting in Fall 2017.
