Rienza knit-fleece with eco-friendly dye process

The Colors of Nature

If you want to engage in sustainable environmental protection, you have to think about cycles. When it comes to functional outdoor clothing, this means keeping an eye on the entire process. Environmentally-friendly manufacturing processes are in demand in the textile industry, but they are not yet widespread in Asian textile factories. The sustainability pioneer VAUDE is now using a particularly resource-conserving dye process for its Rienza fleece jackets. A wearable environmental understatement for eco-pioneers who enjoy forging new ground.

“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.”       Ralph Waldo Emerson

Stylish and versatile, the Rienza fleece comes as a jacket or vest version. A classic fleece with a knit look, it’s a wonderful choice for everyday wear, but it can also be combined as a warm midlayer under a protective outer shell. With zip pockets that let cold hands warm up fast.

The new Rienza fleece not only looks smart, it also conserves the earth’s resources. An innovative, extremely low water dye process is used for its yarn production. Yarn dyeing is a process in which color pigments are already incorporated into the the polyester’s spinning process. This method saves up to 50 liters of water per jacket compared to conventional wet dye processes. In addition, the result is high color fastness in regard to UV radiation and washability. The special dye process produces a unique melange look, which makes each piece unique with different color sequences of the yarn.

VAUDE also uses this environmentally friendly dye process in the Risti Jacket II. With this hybrid insulation jacket, melange inserts in the shoulder area add stylish accents. The high-performance synthetic insulation (40g/m² PrimaLoft® Black Insulation Eco with recycled polyester) provides an extra portion of heat. An absolutely up-to-date look which has a place in any winter wardrobe.

VAUDE clothing with eco-friendly dye will be available for men and women  starting in Fall 2017.
