"As companies, we are part of the climate problem. But we at VAUDE also want to be part of the solution. For years now, we have been committed to environmentally friendly production and climate protection, both at our headquarters and in our global supply chain. We have been doing this on a voluntary basis and at our own expense. To really make a difference, we all need to pull together. Legal regulations are also needed for success. We have experienced that in our industry, it sometimes has to be painful in order for genuinely positive change to take place. I hope that politicians will have the courage to provide the business community with clear orientation. For we cannot wait – we must act now," appealed VAUDE’s CEO Antje von Dewitz to the industry, policy-makers and society at large.
Act now! VAUDE makes a call for action!
"In view of current ecological and social challenges, it is becoming increasingly important for us to take a stance and speak up, not just each of us personally, but also as companies," emphasized Antje von Dewitz. VAUDE encouraged its employees to take part in the global climate demonstration and made it possible for them to do so during their regular working hours. The response was great: some 70 employees joined the strike. Last Friday, VAUDE employees used e-cars, e-bikes and bicycles (all CO2-free) to make their way to Friedrichshafen to join the demonstration together with other regional companies such as Followfood. At the event, Jan Lorch, VAUDE Sales & CSR Management, delivered a moving appeal from the podium. He encouraged the audience to use conscious consumption to steer the economy in a sustainable direction that will enable our planet to be preserved for future generations.
VAUDE is committed to the environment
VAUDE feels it has a moral duty to comply with climate protection and has long been committed to the environment. For example, the company's headquarters in Tettnang on Lake Constance have been climate-neutral since 2012. This means that non-avoidable CO2 emissions at the headquarters are fully compensated for. The use of green electricity from a photovoltaic installation, a switch to LED lighting and a comprehensive mobility concept are just a few examples of the measures that have already been successfully implemented to minimize the company’s climate footprint.
