The Men's Skarvan Biobased Pants are an innovation in terms of functionality and sustainability: The material of these pants consists of 62 % castor oil-based polyamide, which increases their durability and significantly minimizes their ecological footprint. The pants are very stretchy, yet retain their shape and with the flexible waistband and slightly articulated knees are ideal for fresh air fans who love to move. Features include two side pockets and one zip pocket each on the leg and on the seat for important small items. The VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally-friendly, functional products made from sustainable and bluesign® certified materials.

SPF 50 – optimal protection against harmful UV rays

According to DIN EN 13758-1, SPF 50 means that less than 2 percent (1/50) of harmful UV rays penetrate the fabric of your VAUDE gear or clothing. Since VAUDE products do not contain any chemical titanium dioxide, UV protection is achieved solely through the choice of fibers, weave and thickness of the material.

Eco Finish – environmentally friendly water and stain resistant finish

This water and stain resistant finish is applied to the outer fabric of your product so that water pearls up and runs right off – without the use of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFCs). This protects you from the rain and keeps the planet clean. Regular reapplication is necessary for permanent waterproofing and stain resistance.

Ricinus oil/castor oil – biobased synthetic for climate protection

Biobased plastic made from castor oil. The robust castor plant grows without artificial irrigation in poor soil that is unsuitable for growing food. Castor oil pressed from the beans of the plant is used to produce fiber for your VAUDE apparel and plastic components such as zips, buckles and hooks. The advantage: it has the same properties as conventional fiber made from crude oil – but is more climate-friendly because castor oil is a renewable resource that contributes to climate protection.
