Performance meets ecology! The lightweight Tekoa Biobased Pants are exceptionally comfortable and offer plenty of freedom of movement on long and demanding mountain tours. The fabric includes 62% castor oil-based polyamide, which increases durability and significantly minimizes its ecological footprint. In addition, the high-stretch hiking pants are wind and water-repellent as well as breathable. Deeper set zip pockets allow easy access to your necessities, even when wearing a climbing harness. An integrated belt ensures a perfect, tailored fit, articulated knees provide additional freedom of movement. The leg cuffs are reinforced with abrasion-resistant Cordura to protect against crampons and sharp-edged rocks. A patch pocket on the leg with zip will keep your phone, hat or energy bar secure and close at hand. The VAUDE Green Shape label stands for environmentally-friendly, functional products made from sustainable and bluesign® certified materials.

Windproof 80 – 80 percent windproof

The fabric’s fine weave and processing makes your VAUDE product 80 percent windproof. The air that enters is primarily blocked and feels like a cool breeze for a comfortable microclimate and refreshing breathability. Windproof 80 is perfect for high-motion mountain sports and biking in windy weather.

SPF 50 – optimal protection against harmful UV rays

According to DIN EN 13758-1, SPF 50 means that less than 2 percent (1/50) of harmful UV rays penetrate the fabric of your VAUDE gear or clothing. Since VAUDE products do not contain any chemical titanium dioxide, UV protection is achieved solely through the choice of fibers, weave and thickness of the material.

Material

Ricinus oil/castor oil – biobased synthetic for climate protection

Biobased plastic made from castor oil. The robust castor plant grows without artificial irrigation in poor soil that is unsuitable for growing food. Castor oil pressed from the beans of the plant is used to produce fiber for your VAUDE apparel and plastic components such as zips, buckles and hooks. The advantage: it has the same properties as conventional fiber made from crude oil – but is more climate-friendly because castor oil is a renewable resource that contributes to climate protection.

Main fabric: 85% Polyamide (thereof 53% biobased), 15% Elastane; Inserts: 100% Polyamide (Cordura).

Eco Finish – environmentally friendly water and stain resistant finish

This water and stain resistant finish is applied to the outer fabric of your product so that water pearls up and runs right off – without the use of environmentally harmful fluorocarbons (PFCs). This protects you from the rain and keeps the planet clean. Regular reapplication is necessary for permanent waterproofing and stain resistance.
