05.03.2012 / Bike Sector honors VAUDE

As part of the bicycle branch’s Vivavelo Congress in Berlin, VAUDE was awarded the VSF Ethics Award 2012 on February 27th. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), presented the award to Jan Lorch, VAUDE Chief Sales Officer and member of the VAUDE management. This year’s award put “Employees” in the spotlight. At VAUDE, social values are fundamentally rooted in the company and put into practice with a wide variety of measures. That impressed the jury.

13.12.2011 / “Stop talking, start planting” – Trees for climate justice

VAUDE combines regional involvement with climate protection. On November 19th, at an academy of the Children’s Environmental Initiative “Plant for the Planet” held at the company headquarters in Obereisenbach/Germany, 57 children from schools around the area learned how environmental protection and distributive justice are linked.

11.11.2011 / VAUDE places in TOP 3 for the German Sustainability Award 2011

On November 4, the mountain sports company VAUDE was honored at the German Sustainability Day event in the category “Germany’s most sustainable strategies for the future (KMU)” for its social and ecological sustainability.

25.10.2011 / Green is worth Gold

On October 14, 2011, the Design Center Stuttgart honored select products with “outstanding, sustainable design”. The outdoor outfitter VAUDE entered this year’s competition with particularly ecological products and was able to celebrate a total of three awards. Daytour, a ski touring backpack, won the International Design Award Baden-Württemberg in Gold, while the Blue One tent and the Serniga sleeping bag were each honored with the “Focus in Silver”.

12.10.2011 / Medal of Business for Antje von Dewitz

Antje von Dewitz, CEO of Vaude Sport GmbH & Co. KG in Tettnang, Germany, was awarded the Wirtschaftsmedaille (Medal of Business) Wednesday, 28.9.2011, for her outstanding services to the industry in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

15.09.2011 / VAUDE’s Bayreuth Bike Bag earns Eurobike Award 2011

VAUDE was honored with the Eurobike Award 2011 for its “Bayreuth M” bike bag at the Eurobike International Bicycle Trade Fair. Of 430 products entered, the Bayreuth M was one of 59 winners. Competing in the “Accessories” Category, the rear pannier was lauded for its every-day functionality.

14.07.2011 / VAUDE among Top 3 Finalists for German Sustainability Award

Sustainable Strategy Honored
Europe’s environmentally friendly outdoor supplier VAUDE has been selected as a nominee for the German Sustainability Award 2011. The family-run company located at Lake Constance is one of the Top 3 finalists in the category “Germany’s Most Sustainable Future Strategies” (SME). The award recognizes businesses that address current and future challenges in sustainable development with unique strategies. The winner will be announced during a gala award ceremony on November 4, 2011 on “German Sustainability Day”.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE backpack Tracer – major success in the red dot award: product design 2011

The VAUDE bike backpack Tracer 16 clearly convinced the judges: in the red dot design award, one of the most renowned international product competitions, the technical All Mountain backpack has now been awarded the “red dot” seal of quality for high design quality by the jury with its panel of highly respected experts. More than 1,000 guests from the world of design, industry, society and media will celebrate the winners of the red dot design award on 4 July 2011. The VAUDE backpack will then be put on public display during a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE and WWF – New Partners for Nature

As a German Mountain Sports brand, VAUDE is committed to conserving nature and protecting it for the outdoor experience. And now VAUDE has found the perfect partner to further the cause: the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This association is one of Germany’s largest independent environmental conservation organizations and also one of the most active. 1% of all sales of VAUDE Green Shape products now flow directly into WWF Germany projects for children and youth. A WWF-VAUDE Alpine Camp for outdoor-loving kids and youth will kick off the partnership.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE Bag Production – bluesign® certified

The German sports supplier has reached another milestone on its way to becoming Europe’s most eco-friendly outdoor brand: VAUDE’s production facilities at the company headquarters in Obereisenbach/Tettnang in southern Germany have passed the stringent bluesign® Technologies screening process. Waterproof bike bags, stylish bags and backpacks made from coated textile materials are manufactured at the site – all are “Made in Germany” quality.

11.04.2011 / New VAUDE strategy in Chinese market

In order to expand its brand presence in China’s booming market, the southern German mountain sports supplier VAUDE has entered into a comprehensive collaboration with Kailas, a Chinese outdoor gear company. As of 2011, this well-known Chinese brand will take charge of VAUDE’s distribution activities for the Chinese market. In addition, the two brands have agreed upon a close collaboration for the supplier sector, joint development work and licensing agreements for VAUDE products in China. This collaboration will be officially sealed at the ISPO Tradeshow for Sports Equipment and Fashion in Beijing (Feb. 23 – 25) with a celebratory contract signing ceremony.

11.04.2011 / New Addition to International Sales Team

The German Mountain Sports brand VAUDE is pleased to welcome a new addition to their Mountain Sports – International Sales Team. Starting January 1st, Stefan Schmidhuber (36) will be responsible as the new Country Sales Manager for the strategic management of all sales activities in the USA, North Europe and parts of Eastern Europe. He will take over the position from Tobias Mayr, who will be leaving VAUDE after five years to accept new marketing challenges at a mechanical engineering company.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE’s sustainability is distinguished

Europe’s environmentally-friendly outdoor brand VAUDE has been distinguished with two awards for its sustainability activism at the ISPO International Trade Fair for Sports Equipment and Fashion in Munich. VAUDE won the Eco Responsibility Award 2011 for its tent, Blue One, which was honored with ‘environmentally-friendliest product’ in the Accessories category. In addition, VAUDE won in the Company Ecolution category with “most sustainable company”. With this newly introduced award, the trade show honored the comprehensive and longstanding environmentalism of the family-owned company from Tettnang.

At the start of 2011, Peter Sontheimer took over as Product Director for all
three VAUDE product segments: Mountain Sports, Bike Sports and Packs
’n Bags – a position overseeing all VAUDE products. The establishment of
this senior position and ensuing company restructuring are important
measures for strengthening the VAUDE brand and part of a new brand
positioning initiative.

The German Mountain Sports Supplier has good cause for further celebration having received one more key award for its commitment to sustainable business. On October 28, the Utopia Award 2010 was awarded for the third time in Berlin honoring sustainable businesses, organisations, products and role models. VAUDE won the Public’s Choice Award from Utopia, Germany’s largest community for strategic consumption and sustainable living, as the company with the best sustainability performance.

22.03.2011 / Working for Fairness and Transparency

The German Mountain Sports Supplier VAUDE officially joined Fair Wear
Foundation (FWF) on November 15, 2010. Fair Wear Foundation is an
independent, non-profit organization working to improve workplace
conditions in the garment and textile industry worldwide. The foundation is
a multi-stakeholder initiative supported by various NGOs, trade unions, and
business associations in the textile industry.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE receives Eurobike Gold Award for Augsburg Bike Bag

VAUDE was honored with the Eurobike Gold Award 2010 at the international Eurobike tradeshow for its Augsburg M city bike bag. Of the 417 products entered, the bag was selected by a jury of experts as one of the twelve most innovative entries to win gold. In the category Accessories, it won the jury over as being a successful implementation of a functional bike shoulder bag for everyday use. The bag carries the “Made in Germany” quality seal, through which the family business VAUDE sets a clear signal for top quality, its place of location and German manufacturing in general.

11.04.2011 / VAUDE is a bicycle-friendly employer

On Wednesday, October 27, 2010, the Bundesdeutsche Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management e.V. (B.A.U.M. e.V. / German Environmental Management Association) recognized the most bicycle-friendly businesses in Germany. VAUDE was commended for its above-average commitment in promoting cycling in the workplace, winning both an award and prize.
